2. Scope of these terms

These Terms and Conditions apply to purchases made through patchkeys.com by both consumers (B2C) and business customers (B2B).

A consumer (B2C) is an individual purchasing products primarily for personal use outside their trade, business or profession.

A business customer (B2B) is a person or legal entity purchasing products for purposes related to their trade, business or professional activities.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, these terms apply to both customer categories. Provisions specifically referring to consumers apply only to consumer purchases, while provisions specifically referring to business customers apply only to business purchases.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes mandatory consumer protection rights under applicable law.

The agreement consists of these Terms and Conditions, the information displayed on the relevant product page, the order confirmation and any mandatory legal rights applicable to the purchase.

If product-specific information conflicts with these general terms, the product-specific information applies unless this would limit rights granted by mandatory law.

3. Digital products and licences

PatchKeys sells digitally delivered products, including product keys, game keys and software licences. No physical product will be shipped unless explicitly stated on the product page.

Products may be subject to requirements or restrictions relating to:

  • Platform or operating system
  • Device compatibility
  • Account requirements
  • Activation method
  • Geographical region
  • Language
  • Publisher or platform terms

These requirements will be described on the product page where applicable. You are responsible for checking that the product is suitable for your intended device, platform, account and region before purchasing.

Purchasing a product key normally grants a right to activate or use the relevant product. It does not transfer ownership of the software or other intellectual property.

4. Prices and taxes

All prices are displayed in the currency applicable to the customer's selected country or market.

Applicable taxes, including Value Added Tax (VAT), are calculated according to the customer's location, tax status, the nature of the product and applicable tax legislation.

The total amount payable, including any applicable VAT, will be displayed before the customer completes the order.

Consumer purchases (B2C)

For eligible digital products supplied to consumers in the European Union, VAT is generally applied according to the applicable rules and the VAT rate of the customer's location as determined under appliicable VAT rules.

Where VAT is included in the displayed price, this will be indicated accordingly. Any applicable changes or adjustments will be reflected in the checkout total before payment.

Business purchases (B2B)

Eligible business customers may qualify for VAT reverse-charge treatment where permitted or required by applicable tax legislation.

Business customers requesting reverse-charge treatment must provide accurate company information and a valid VAT identification number where required. VAT numbers may be validated through the European Commission's VAT Information Exchange System (VIES) or other appropriate verification procedures.

Where reverse-charge treatment applies, PatchKeys will not collect VAT on the relevant transaction, and the business customer is responsible for accounting for VAT in accordance with the applicable rules.

Providing a VAT number does not automatically guarantee VAT exemption. PatchKeys reserves the right to verify eligibility and apply the appropriate tax treatment.

Business customers are responsible for ensuring that the company and tax information supplied during checkout is accurate.

General provisions

Prices may change at any time, but changes will not affect orders that have already been accepted.

PatchKeys is not responsible for exchange-rate differences or fees charged separately by the customer's bank, card issuer or payment provider.

5. Orders and formation of the agreement

You must provide accurate and complete information when placing an order.

An order is considered received when it has been submitted through the store. The purchase agreement is concluded when PatchKeys accepts the order and sends the order confirmation.

PatchKeys may reject or cancel an order in reasonable circumstances, including:

  • Payment failure
  • Suspected fraud or unauthorised payment
  • An obvious pricing or product-information error
  • The product being unavailable
  • Legal or contractual restrictions preventing delivery

If an order is cancelled after payment has been collected, the relevant amount will be refunded.

6. Payment

Payment is processed using the payment methods displayed during checkout.

The payment provider may reserve or charge the amount when the order is placed. The availability and processing of individual payment methods are subject to the payment provider’s terms.

7. Digital delivery

Products are delivered electronically to the email address or customer account associated with the order.

Delivery normally begins shortly after payment and order verification. Some orders may require additional verification or manual review.

You are responsible for providing a valid email address and checking your inbox, spam folder and customer account. If you have not received your product within a reasonable time, please contact Customer Service.

8. Activation and use

You must follow the activation instructions and any publisher or platform requirements associated with the product.

Product keys must be kept secure and should not be shared, published, resold or used unlawfully. PatchKeys may request relevant order information, screenshots or error messages when investigating an activation problem.

These requirements do not limit your rights where the supplied product is faulty or does not conform to the agreement.

9. Right of withdrawal for digital content

Consumers generally have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for eligible distance purchases, subject to applicable legal exceptions.

For digital content not supplied on a physical medium, the right of withdrawal may be lost once delivery or performance has begun, provided that:

  • The consumer has given prior express consent to delivery beginning before the withdrawal period expires;

  • The consumer has acknowledged that this will result in the loss of the right of withdrawal; and

  • PatchKeys has provided the legally required confirmation of that consent and acknowledgement.

Where these requirements have not been met, the consumer's statutory withdrawal rights remain unaffected.

The loss of the right of withdrawal does not affect statutory rights relating to faulty, invalid, incorrectly supplied or non-conforming digital products.

Consumers wishing to exercise a statutory right of withdrawal may contact Customer Service. Further information is available in our Refund Policy.

Business purchases (B2B)

Business customers do not have the statutory consumer right of withdrawal. Cancellation requests from business customers are assessed under the agreed contractual terms and any applicable mandatory law.

Please contact Customer Service before activating or redeeming the product if you wish to request cancellation.

10. Incorrect, invalid or faulty products

If you receive an incorrect product, or if a product key is invalid, previously used or otherwise does not conform to the agreement, please contact Customer Service with your order number and relevant documentation.

PatchKeys will investigate the issue and provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with the agreement and applicable law. Depending on the circumstances, remedies may include:

  • Technical assistance

  • A corrected or replacement product

  • A price reduction

  • Cancellation and refund

Consumer purchases (B2C)

Consumers retain all mandatory statutory rights and remedies for non-conforming digital products. Nothing in these terms limits those rights or makes their exercise dependent on accepting technical assistance or a replacement where applicable law provides otherwise.

Business purchases (B2B)

For business purchases, claims relating to incorrect, invalid or faulty products will be assessed under the agreed contractual terms and applicable law. Business customers should report issues without undue delay after discovering them.

A compatibility issue arising solely from selecting an incompatible platform, device or region that was clearly disclosed before purchase will not normally constitute a product defect. This does not limit any mandatory rights or remedies available under applicable law.

11. Refunds

Refund and cancellation requests are assessed in accordance with applicable law, these Terms and Conditions and the Refund Policy published on our website.

Consumer purchases (B2C)

Consumers are entitled to refunds and other remedies where required by applicable consumer protection law, including where statutory withdrawal rights apply or a digital product does not conform to the agreement.

Business purchases (B2B)

Business customers may request a refund or cancellation in accordance with the agreed contractual terms and applicable law. Business purchases are not subject to the statutory consumer cooling-off period.

Refund processing

Approved refunds will be processed in accordance with applicable legal requirements and will normally be returned using the original payment method. Any legally permitted alternative refund method will be agreed with the customer where required.

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts statutory rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.

12. Intellectual property

Software, games, product names, trademarks, images and other materials remain the property of their respective rights holders.

You may use the purchased product only within the licence and usage terms established by the relevant publisher, platform or rights holder.

13. Fraud and misuse

PatchKeys may delay, cancel or investigate orders where there are reasonable grounds to suspect fraud, payment abuse, unauthorised resale or other unlawful activity.

Any action taken under this section will be proportionate to the circumstances and will not limit mandatory consumer rights.

14. Privacy

Personal information is processed in accordance with the PatchKeys Privacy Policy.

Payment information may also be processed by payment providers under their respective privacy policies.

15. Liability

PatchKeys is responsible for providing products in accordance with the agreement and applicable law.

To the extent permitted by law, PatchKeys is not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control, customer misuse, unsupported devices or accounts, or outages and restrictions imposed by third-party platforms.

Nothing in these terms limits liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

16. Changes to these terms

PatchKeys may update these terms when necessary because of changes to the business, services or applicable law.

The version that applied when your order was placed will normally govern that purchase. Updated terms apply to future purchases from the date they are published.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you live in another country, this choice does not remove mandatory consumer rights granted by the laws applicable in your country of residence.

Please contact PatchKeys first if you have a complaint. We will attempt to resolve the matter within a reasonable time.

If the matter cannot be resolved directly, consumers may submit the dispute to the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) for mediation or use another competent consumer dispute-resolution body where applicable.
